I'm researching sites on German history for a new edition of the book History Highway. I'm planning to include your site along with some sites of other Gedenkstatten.
I am doing a research paper on Dachau after visiting there with univeristy about two weeks ago.
see you later.
Thank you so much for the extremely helpful info. Your site has made it so much easier for me to get info on the concentration camp Dachau for my report on it. Thanks again!!!!
My great grandfather was an American soldier held prisoner at Dachau. It is really interesting to read what happened there.
I really thought this site was very usefull. Thank you!
My father was a prisoner here in the second world war.
I visited camp site twice while my business trips to Dachau.
First visit was quite shocking seeing all those documents and fotos
of what had happened. The second time I thought the visit should be
just spending time, but no. To revisit such place literally threw me 55
years back in time. I felt the pain, the agony, all the suffering that happened
in that area during 1940's. And I was full of rage of how this could have
ever been possible.
After that second visit I have watched world news in a very different
perspective. Thank You City of Dachau and the people responsible
for keeping this "dark monument" open for the people of today.
In doing a research paper over the various concentration camps, your website
has proved most helpful. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Misty
After watching Schindler's List for the second time I was thinking of my visit to Dachau a few years ago and how much respect I felt for what these innocent people endured. That visit has left a great impact on me and I will never forget! Thank you for this web site.
I am doing a research paper on the Dachau Concentration Camp and I am very glad that I found your site. It has been helpful.
My father was a prisoner at Dachau, and your very informative site has
given me some insight into what he and countless others must have gone
through. I can now understand why he has been such a tormented man.
thank you for all the information

we visited this camp in 1990 while spending time with our son who was stationed in germany. after all this time we still feel chills at the sound of the name DACHAU. we also visited the holocaust museum in D.C. any doubt we had as to the number of victims or the inhuman treatment has all been erased and will stay in our minds forever. we videoed our day there also for our grandchildren.
I have to do a major report for my history class on the camp dachau.
Your site has helped me a lot in the research........thanks a million
for having this site........It might just save my history grade!!!!
thanks,
Mike

I've visited Dachau and I am still haunted by the feelings that I had as I walked thru. My daughter is now studying the Holocaust and I can only hope that she truly learns about the horrible thing that is prejudism.

I have been searching for infomation about my grandfather who was sent to Dachau.
his name is Johann Viemann
any infomation you would have would be greatly appriciated
I want to thank you for being brave enough to create a web site like this one. First of all there are so many people out there that don't take the time to realize the pilot of some people. In school they don't teach what actually happened here. My heart goes out to all the people who lost their lives and who survived this horrible tragedy and to their families. Thank you for giving me the oppurtunity to learn more and for helping me not to be so ignorant of certain disasters in history.
I'll be visiting the memorial within the next few days. Your web site has been very helpful in preparing for the visit.
thank you
Great site! Good work! Very interesting, thought provoking, and informative.
Thanks for the work on the WEB site.

Vielen Dank
Very informative site. I was stationed in Dachau in the late 50's, with the 53rd Engineers, U.S.Army.
Found very interesting. Have been researching Holocaust past 15 years.
I am the great-niece of Leonhard Roth, O.P. who was a prisoner of Dachau
Concentration camp. My sister (who is also a religious Sister) and I visited there
this summer and loved our visit. If you have any further information on our
great uncle, could you please send it to me? In english please for unfortunately,
I do not speak german. Thank you. My address is:
Sister Francis de Sales, O.P.
801 Dominican Drive
Nashville, Tennessee 37228, USA
Or you could send it as an attachment to my email address. I would deeply
appreciate anything you have. I already have a translation of the summary
of his life. God bless you!
My junior year of high school '97, I was awakend more so then than ever in my life. Now I sit and research this camp for a german paper that I am writing and can not help but feel upset as to what happened to so many families that were lost. I only wish I could do something to help. The only thing that I could think of was to focus my paper more on Dachau so that I could educate my peers that do not want to listen to the teachers and do not realize the reality behind this horrible tragedy.
A very good and hard site!!! Thank for your important work, whit this,
humanity can't forget the past horrors...
Thank you, and excuse me for my english.
I think sites like these are really important to everyone. If people did not have memories and documents on the Holacaust then some people would forget about this terrible thing that happened.
Thank you for the informative site that provides food for thought about the atocities of war. When we visit Germany, we hope to see that area.
Thank you so much for your web site. I am only 18 but I plan on studying the Holocaust for the rest of my life. It was such an important event in the history of the world and I would like to be a part of the research. If you have any information on how I can start my life in this field I would really appreciate it.
My father was in the unit that helped liberate the survivors. Of the 3 wars in fought in Dachau is his most vivid memory. A memory he'll never forget.
You have a good sight. I think it is better than some I have been to.
cool webpage
I visited Dachau several years ago and was extremely moved by the frail and submissive humanity of the captives and the evil inhumanity of the captors. It was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. One visit, or even the thought of what happened here and in the other Nazi prison camps, should be more than enough to prevent these kinds of atrocities from ever happening again. Unfortunately, mankind has not learned, and apparently never will learn, from these heart-breaking events. I pray for the survivors, both inside and outside the fences.
Nazionalsozialismus ist fuck
I have been there to there camp. What a chilling feeling! To be there
first hand and walk the steps they took!
We will never forget!
Elizabeth
I found much information. Whom should I contact to find information about a prisoner who died there on 15 May 1945?
Thank you for bringing the horrors to the front and never letting anyone forget.
I was in the Army, stationed at Ledward Bks,Schweinfurt between 1986-1987 During which time,my roommate took me to visit Dachau memorial. At first, I went feeling I had "nothing better to do". That trip was quite an experience.
It was a very well put together site. I visited there about 4 or 5 years ago while I lived in Germany. The black and white pictures pretty much look like what it did that day - gray. My visit to Dachau has put an effect on my life even to this day. It's a kind of place that everyone needs to visit just to appreciate how your life is - good or bad.
