I visited camp site twice while my business trips to Dachau. First visit was quite shocking seeing all those documents and fotos of what had happened. The second time I thought the visit should be just spending time, but no. To revisit such place literally threw me 55 years back in time. I felt the pain, the agony, all the suffering that happened in that area during 1940's. And I was full of rage of how this could have ever been possible.
After that second visit I have watched world news in a very different perspective. Thank You City of Dachau and the people responsible for keeping this "dark monument" open for the people of today.

we visited this camp in 1990 while spending time with our son who was stationed in germany. after all this time we still feel chills at the sound of the name DACHAU. we also visited the holocaust museum in D.C. any doubt we had as to the number of victims or the inhuman treatment has all been erased and will stay in our minds forever. we videoed our day there also for our grandchildren.

I want to thank you for being brave enough to create a web site like this one. First of all there are so many people out there that don't take the time to realize the pilot of some people. In school they don't teach what actually happened here. My heart goes out to all the people who lost their lives and who survived this horrible tragedy and to their families. Thank you for giving me the oppurtunity to learn more and for helping me not to be so ignorant of certain disasters in history.

Now I sit and research this camp for a german paper that I am writing and can not help but feel upset as to what happened to so many families that were lost. I only wish I could do something to help. The only thing that I could think of was to focus my paper more on Dachau so that I could educate my peers that do not want to listen to the teachers and do not realize the reality behind this horrible tragedy.

I visited Dachau several years ago and was extremely moved by the frail and submissive humanity of the captives and the evil inhumanity of the captors. It was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. One visit, or even the thought of what happened here and in the other Nazi prison camps, should be more than enough to prevent these kinds of atrocities from ever happening again. Unfortunately, mankind has not learned, and apparently never will learn, from these heart-breaking events. I pray for the survivors, both inside and outside the fences.

It was a very well put together site. I visited there about 4 or 5 years ago while I lived in Germany. The black and white pictures pretty much look like what it did that day - gray. My visit to Dachau has put an effect on my life even to this day. It's a kind of place that everyone needs to visit just to appreciate how your life is - good or bad.
